The Scorpions battled back from a nine-point halftime deficit and picked up a huge road win in double overtime.

“The win puts us in first place, and after some quality wins we have a target on our backs,” said North Brunswick coach Bryan Hayes.

Nik Sloan led the way for the Scorpions with 20 points.

North Brunswick (10-6, 4-1) plays South Brunswick on Friday.

The Patriots jumped out to a 16-point halftime lead and outscored Friendship 35-33 in the second half.

The Rebels were down by 16 at the half, then Princeton exploded for a 21-2 run in the third quarter.

“It came down to free throws. They made some key free throws and we couldn’t get to the line,” said Topsail coach Jim Clanahan.
