The Hoggard High School girls swim team dominated on Saturday at the Mideastern Conference Meet held at East Carolina with a score of 102.
Trailing with a score of 74 was JH Rose and in third New Hanover with a 53. In the 200 freestyle, Hoggard’s Caroline Estep and Carter Leigh High took first and third respectively. Emmie Barnhill from JH Rose took the second spot, helping to keep her team relevant in the meet.
At the Mideastern Conference Meet held at East Carolina this Saturday, the boys swim teams from local schools competed against each other for the elusive win.
While JH Rose took the number one spot with a score of 100, Hoggard was close behind with a score of 85.
The remaining schools scored as follows: Ashley, 29, New Hanover, 22, and New Bern, 12. JH Rose took home the wins in the 400 freestyle and the 200 medley relay. Hoggard’s Zach Hannum won the 50 and 100 freestyle
Saturday at the Boneyard Bash, wrestling teams from local schools competed against other teams from the area. Topsail High School took the number three spot with a total of 141. Leading the Topsail crew was Tate Correll who came in second place with a indiviual score of 22 points.
Harrels 42, Parrott 35
While the boys from Parrott Academy had a strong beginning and end, Harrells rallied after a lackluster start to take home the win. Zack Carlton was Harrells shining star scoring a total of 15 points and 4 rebounds.
Harrells 50, Parrott 11
Harrells girls showed off their talent and their drive in a sweeping win againist Parrott Academy. Daisha Jordan led Harrells with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The rest of the team held scored consistently and maintained a strong defense.
