Laney suffocated Conway to start the tournament with a defensive-minded win. The Buc defense was effective in full-court and half-court settings, and held Conway without a field goal until the fourth quarter.

Laney's defense was so stingy the Bucs led 31-1 at halftime. Conway didn't make a field goal until the 2:43 mark of the fourth quarter.

Tiana Edwards led the Bucs with nine points while forwards Amber Doniere and Paulette Addison combined for 13 points.
