Fletcher out as West Brunswick coach

West Brunswick High School football coach Jimmy Fletcher was removed Tuesday night, Fletcher confirmed Thursday.
Fletcher said he was shocked by the decision.
"The first thing is total shock," Fletcher said. "I think the AD and I had different ideas about the way to run a program. I guess that was their decision."
In 2009, Fletcher led the Trojans to their first winning season in nine years. But West Brunswick went a combined 9-14 in the past two seasons, and 6-6 in the Waccamaw Conference during that time, including two lopsided losses to rival South Brunswick. He finished his nine-year career with a 43-63 record.
Fletcher, who retains his teaching position at West Brunswick, said he will probably try to continue coaching. He will coach the East team in the East-West All-State game this year.
"I've very blessed and you know God has a plan and we'll see what the next thing is," Fletcher said.
West Brunswick athletic director John Floyd did not immediately return phone calls Thursday evening.
